North Carolina radio station shifts format to nothing but Drake
There is one station in America that Meek Mill probably won't be playing any of his music. Charlotte, North Carolina FM station has reportedly shifted their format to "All Drake All The Time" . WQNC in Charlotte recently rebranded itself Drake 92.7, and the station has pumped out a playlist dedicated entirely to the Toronto rapper ever since. WQNC was orginally a gospel music station and when regular listeners tuned into the 92.7 expecting to hear Marvin Sapp or Yolanda Adams they heard songs like Zero to 100 and Back 2 Back.
It is not clear if the Drake playlist is here to stay or if it's simply a marketing campaign in honor of the launch. There are also rumors that Drake himself purchased the station as a publicity gimmic, however the Federal Communications Commission regulations don't allow for international parties to purchase American broadcast stations, but those rules have been relaxed as of late.
The question remains is WQNC trying to compete with satilite and internet radio streaming stations that offer single artist themed stations or if this is only for the moment? But for now North Carolina Drake fans can enjoy hearing their favorite artist "Back 2 Back"
